Priest surprises couple at wedding

Did anyone else see this…and shed a little tear?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geuThhS0BK8

I wouldn’t want anyone deciding to interject something into my wedding ceremony without my permission in advance, especially a self-indulgent priest who apparently wanted to make the event all about him rather than the couple. And what an odd choice for a song! I think he changed the lyrics (couldn’t make out the words that well), but Hallelujah is hardly what I’d call wedding material.

He definitely changed the words.

I loved this and it made me tear up. I would be surprised if this priest was not a friend or family member of this couple. The delight shown by the couple and the wedding guests makes it even more worthwhile.

It was lovely. Personally I cannot imagine a couple not being delighted by it–surprise or not.

Ugh. Massively kitsch.

Leonard Cohen should sue! That was awful and I would have hated it at my wedding.

I have always liked the song the women were singing just before the priest did his number. I’m guessing the couple actually chose that one.

…He changed the words.

While it’s not my thing, I don’t see it any different from singing a song to a newlywed couple. Meh.

I would hate that he did that at my child’s wedding.

Wow - how very different we all are in the way we see things.

I may be wrong, but my guess is he didn’t do it without the approval of the immediate families. At least I hope not.

The need of families to out YouTube one another seems to have reached a critical mass. Even so, sorry to be a grinch, but just not a fan of this kind of thing, especially at a religious ceremony, which is a happy event, but also a serious one. This had talent night at the local high school written all over it. “Blushing brides?” “Say I do-yeh?”

I tend to feel the same way about priests, ministers and rabbis who crack jokes all the way through a ceremony and choreographed wedding parties dancing up aisles. It’s just not the right time or the place, IMO.

Well this is the first time in a long time I’e read something in several other places BEFORE reading about it on CC . LOL!

I dont see the priest as self indulgent or making it all about him. We don’t know the bck story- if he has a close relationship with the bride or groom, etc. I thought it was sweet, but I am a sucker for those things.
DId anyone see this one of the bride singing to her groom as she walked down the aisle? <a href=“BRIDE SINGS DOWN THE AISLE (Ryan & Arianna's Wedding Day) - YouTube”>BRIDE SINGS DOWN THE AISLE (Ryan & Arianna's Wedding Day) - YouTube; I sent it to my s’s new fiancee. She laughed, ans said her singing skills would not be appreciated, at the wedding or anywhere…

^^^ The bride did a beautiful job - I thought the pastor kind of ruined the moment in this one.

I must say though, both bridge and groom looked awfully young to me!

In these pictures, they don’t look awfully young though…plus happily everyone seems to have thoroughly enjoyed the surprise.

I didn’t find it beautiful and I would not want this at my wedding, but to each his/her own.

The bride and groom seemed to like it and that’s all that matters

Bridesmaids should not have to wear dresses that make them look like they just stepped out of the shower & are wrapped in a towel.

I like that wrapped dress look shrug

I don’t think strapless is very flattering to many women.
It either makes your shoulders look too big, or if you have smaller rounder shoulders, it accentuates that.
It doesn’t help that with the exception of a corset or bustier, strapless bras pull down on the breasts and hold them barely above the waist.
But if you like that look, just don’t take pictures from behind sitting down.

I have to think that the family (maybe not bride and groom) knew that the priest was planning to sing. If so, to each his own, even though I wouldn’t have liked it.
If they didn’t know, it was very poor taste, imo. It definitely took the focus off of the B & G in their time to shine.

I agree that this emphasis on living life with an eye to posting on social media is outta control!
