Prime Day Deals Oct 7-8

Did a quick scan of my lists to see what might be on sale. I’ve put off buying a few things in case there were savings today.

So far bought a fleece pullover for my pup, a set of strawberry rings for my strawberry plants (keeps the strawberries away from the dirt to ripen and not rot) and some bread bags (for homemade bread!)

Hoping to get a waffle maker - there is a Krups one about 50% off and pretty well rated but it’s a 4 waffle maker - I really wasn’t thinking of anything that big! I’ll keep an eye.

Also keeping an eye on the puzzle tables since winter is coming.

I bought 3 of those chopped things @ChoatieMom linked last week. One for me and one for each of our kids/FDILs. The price dropped a few dollars.

I also bought H two pairs of his Wrangler Camo cargo shorts. This is what he has worn pretty much every day since I met him in 1992. His original pair were cutoffs from the military store at Fort Bragg - they lasted like 30 years… But he’s had other along the way and is currently down to just one sad pair. Usually we get them at Walmart, but our store doesn’t have any and walmart.com wanted to charge me shipping.

Edit - Woohoo! Just saw my Mizuno Wave Riders are $80! Grabbed a pair

I read somewhere that the Tonie starter box was on sale (50% off) - 75 or 80$. But that must have been a lightning deal because all that I can see now is 99$. Is that still a good buy?

Remember other companies are doing sales on their own sites. Got two pair of shoes at Easy Spirit on sale–free shipping at 50 dollars and 10 dollars off!

Bought a bunch of small things, mostly travel items for an upcoming trip. Bought my husband 2 quarter zips for said trip so he has something nicer to wear to dinners.

Definitely nothing that I wasn’t going to buy anyway

iPad now or wait for Black Friday? It will be a Christmas present for me so I will wait until Christmas to open it anyway. Just need basic WiFi one not 5G. Can’t decide.

I did my sale non-Amazon shopping yesterday but did check the list of “Buy Again” for household stuff I buy regularly. Since I tend to buy at lowest prices, I checked previous purchases. Anything at or below last purchase price, I added since I knew it was a bargain. Then put date for 7% cash back on my Amazon VISA for additional savings.

My daughter’s laptop desk broke. I ordered her a new one on Amazon last night (in a rush to have it get to her.) Today it is $35 cheaper, has the same delivery date, and the one I ordered has still not shipped. I chatted with Amazon customer support, told them I was fully prepared to order a new one and return the more expensive one when it comes. After being passed on to a supervisor (first agent was only authorized to credit me $20), they agreed to crediting me the difference of $35.

For an iPad I’d wait for black friday if you won’t be using it before then. The return time frame is usually longer then to take into account that the items are being bought for Christmas.

Bought household stuff–Tide pods, chicken jerky for the new puppy, filters for the cat water fountains, and an electric travel toothbrush for me.

Definitely nothing exciting.

I want a Kindle or iPad for ebooks but I’m putting it on my Christmas wish list for someone else to get me.

I bought a Water Pik water flosser and Kenra clear paste that Ulta was out of. The Kenra wasn’t listed as a Prime Day savings, but was $7 cheaper than Ulta. So I bought 2. I also bought 4 bags of Gruns. It’s a little cheaper than Target (which is usually the best price) and I don’t think they will go any cheaper.

I bought a Roomba for DS who’s buried in cat hair at his house. $149.99 looked like a pretty good price at 40% off.

I bought a Ninja pizza oven as a Christmas present for my husband. Also a bunch of vitamins and other stuff off my Buy Again list, but I was disappointed that this year my favorite coffee pods are not included.

I bought a Barbie airplane for GD, marked down from $85 to $60. H bought some stuff for home maintenance that was marked way down.

My concern is that if I were to buy something, for someone else for Christmas, I have less than 30 days to return it.

Unless I specify that it’s on that person‘s gift registry, my limit is 30 days. There are some things I would like to get, but I don’t need them. I would rather not spend the money now just because they’re having a sale that isn’t that great.

From their return policy, I copied this:

90 days
  • Select Amazon Renewed products in “Acceptable,” “Good,” or “Excellent” condition types.

  • Most nonperishable Baby products

  • Items purchased from an Amazon Birthday and/or Custom Gift List by someone other than the registry owner.

  • Mattresses (excluding crib mattresses)

Their typical policy is 30 days, and knowing how difficult it can be to talk to customer support, I don’t trust that it’s 90 day policy would include the items I’ve selected for others.

Like @Marilyn, I too, ordered some household items, but they weren’t any better on sale. I just ordered them for the convenience of being delivered, and my not having to go around town, getting everything on my list.

I ordered some inexpensive blinds for our cottage last week. They were discounted at that time, and there was a limit of 4. I needed 5. By the time the seller allowed me to buy the 5th, which was yesterday, it was no longer on sale. Lo & behold, the blind was discounted again this morning. It hadn’t shipped yet, so I cancelled the order. As soon as the cancellation was confirmed, I ordered the discounted blind. Hey, don’t mess with me, Amazon algorithm!

D ordered a Christmas present for GD yesterday. It arrived today … without a box around it. D got home from picking up GD at pre-k and saw it on the porch. She made GD cover her eyes. Now GD is very perturbed that she has a present she can’t open until Christmas!

I think Amazon is showing a bunch of everyday items on sale to get people to stock up on the stuff they use all the time.

That’s what I’ve bought. Razors, body wash, deodorant, garbage disposal cleaner, that’s the kind of stuff I bought.

I did order a new suitcase. My old one, it fell apart the last time I flew. I saw that amazon discounted Away suitcases. I really wanted the bigger carry on, amazon didn’t have that particular one on sale.

Looked on the brand website, they did! Ordered the suitcase I really wanted!

I got an Echo Spot to replace a Echo Dot w/ Clock that was about 5 years old. I don’t know if it was a great price but it was on sale for Prime Day. I like this display better than the Dot because it displays both the current time and then in a smaller line below the time it displays a running timer if set. I use the timer feature a lot when cooking, doing laundry, etc.
