Princeton Class or 2021 EA / RD Application thread

There is an article on the Daily Princetonian if you search FERPA that involves a surge in January admissions file requests last year. Not everyone waives their FERPA rights and many students who were accepted and didn’t waive those rights viewed their files after decision day. This gives all of you speculating what Princeton is looking for a direct view of that. They cite admissions files with direct quotations from admissions officers left on these applicants. It is truly insightful.

Do you guys think an essay that is probably very philosophical would be too much for my Princeton supplement?

@scarletwitchx write the essay that you want to write. Don’t worry about conforming to what you think the officers want to hear, because that is a surefire way to get rejected. Just write what is you. It is your essay, your voice, your unique response.

@danieljg511 The Stanford and Princeton FERPA requests had a chilling effect on you and subsequent application classes in this way: there’s no way in **** I want any interviewed student (admitted or not) to see my report. None. When I first heard about this BS, I shot off an email to my Ivy alma mater’s Admissions Dean and he personally responded to assure me of the integrity of our reports (they’re immediately destroyed).

How do you think the Princeton alumni interviewer will treat you guys? People’s curiosity might be costing you guys in ways you don’t realize.

I don’t understand why someone wouldn’t waive their FERPA rights, its essentially letting your colleges know that your rec’s are potentially biased.

@JuicyMango

Did you get in?

Just applied. Good luck everyone… we’re gonna need it

Good luck everyone!

Hi everyone! I received an email from Princeton several days ago; it gave me my interviewer’s email and said I should expect to be contacted by him soon. I still haven’t heard from him, but most other applicants I know have already been contacted by their interviewers. Should I reach out to him myself? Or should I just keep waiting for him to contact me first?

@jiesica Keep waiting; once you feel it’s truly too long contact the admissions office.

@VenomBuds Thank you!

I got an email from them saying to expect to be contacted by my interviewer, but we had the interview before Christmas…

I still haven’t received an email from Princeton about any interview (despite uploading all documents/materials on time). Should I contact them?

@jiesica It took like two weeks for my interviewer to reach out to me after receiving his information, so I’d just wait one more week and then email them.

@Sumbodyyyy They’re usually really good about setting up interviews with you if they’re available in your location. I would wait for like 2-3 weeks before emailing admissions office.

Princeton notified me that I would get an interview!!! I live in Korea, and when I applied to Yale, I didn’t get one, so it’s exciting!!! First ivy to ask me for an interview :)))

@VenomBuds Gotcha. Thank you!

Just got an email from my interviewer today!

@h99999 Thanks, that makes sense! I’ll keep waiting. :slight_smile:

@hhjjlala That’s great!! Have fun! I hope you have fun; interviews have been my favorite part of the process so far.

also received my interview! for starbucks/dunkin donuts interview… would jeans and a nice top be appropriate? I don’t want to overdress!
