Princeton Course Structure

Sorry about all the threads i’ve posted, so let me reiterate- USA college system is confusing.

I have been looking at princeton as i got confused when it says to choose B.Arts or B.Engineering, so i looked into it and realised that if i want to do a biology/chemistry type major (and not maths) then i go through arts, yes?

So the first two years are all core units? Where i do subjects from history, english, technology and so on, do i choose what sort of subjects from each of these areas? or is this course very structured?

and in the next two years, do i just focus on my major or do i get a few electives as well to do other courses?
any information is helpful:)

thanks

littlerain, it all depends on the major

Yes, you would go through the college of arts and sciences to get a degree in the physical sciences. Each of the majors will have a number of prerequisites (you can peruse the individual departments’ requirements online), but you will take a variety of classes, including a writing seminar freshman year and distribution requirements. Generally students take a mix of classes for their major and electives, say 2 and 2 or 3 and 1. In your junior and senior year you generally take more departmental classes (in your declared major) but you pretty much always have at least one class that’s not directly related to your major.

I would do a little more research on departmental websites and Princeton’s website to get a feel for the system, requirements, and so on.

Thanks for the reply, yeah i will do a bit more research but you cleared some up.
