Princeton ED Roster

Kebree, I know the feeling… I would much rather have everyone around me telling me that I won’t get in than “Stop whining about having to wait! You know you are getting in!” That way, if I got rejected, it would be expected and no one would care. Now I feel like if I get rejected, I will be letting people down or something.

Yeah…no kidding. I would much rather no one know about it. I guess it’s great to know that people care, but in some circumstances it’s more a curse than a blessing…I’ll really feel like I’ve let everyone down if I’m rejected/deferred, and I don’t want relief to be the dominant emotion if I really am accepted.

My parents were rooting me on, as were my friends and teachers… I hope I don’t let them down =( So many people were like “omg you’d be perfect” ahhhh!

I can completely understand what you guys are saying. People seem to think that I am a shoo-in for HYPS because I have pretty decent stats for my community, but no one ever applies to top schools, so they are unfamiliar with the level of competition. I feel like if I am rejected or deferred they will think there was somehting wrong with me or my application - bad essays, bad recommendations, something like that.

About the reaction people have when Princeton or other top schools are mentioned: the same thing happens to me as with you guys, but I continue to just list the schools I am applying to for them. There’s not shame in applying to Princeton or other ivies! If a football player is being recruited by elite programs like USC and Miami, people are impressed. Our academic achievement and ambitions should be treated no differently.

Many people, in reaction to hearing where I’m applying, wrinkle their noses and frown as if to say “oh, well, I/myson/mydaughter am/is applying to virginia tech/NC state/penn state, which is just as good, and those places you’re applying to are just name-brands and are prestigious because millionaires and snobs go to them, so you must hold yourself in such high regards and think you’re better than me.” Ya know what I’m saying? Then the person will go on to recommend somewhere that he or she or their child is applying to or an equivelent place and try to say that it’s got one of the best programs in _____ (I was actually told that penn state has the best physics program in the country and that virginia tech has the best engineering school in the world. lol.) That’s the general kind of thing I put up with, but whatever. If I were you, I would just tell people where you’re applying but play down your chances (or just be realistic, as most people are about Princeton) and let them know that you truly are not expecting anything.

Haha, don’t worry. I am in no way ashamed of Princeton…I just could do without people skirting me in corridors, lol.

lol I guess nobody would do that whole “oh princeton- snob alert” thing at my school, but it’s really awful that a month ago I was realistic and was thinking that I wouldn’t get in just so I wouldn’t be so disappointed, but with everyone tellinig me that I’ll get in (even those of you on cc) it’s actually making me believe that I have a better chance than I do. Ahh it’s awful. Come on, everyone tell me I have no chance…please?

you have no chance! now, prove me wrong :)

you have absolutely no chance whatsoever. wink. ;)

lol thank you!

See? Real friends tell you you’re gonna be rejected.
::hug::

hey, me telling people they’re going to be rejected seems to be a lucky charm. this girl at my school applied to tulane EA and the adcom told her that she could call them to get her decision over the phone. i told her that she’d be rejected (to prepare her for the worst) but when she called, they accepted her!

hurrah!

Ok then, Bokonon…tell me, too.

Everyone’s going to be rejected!!
Hurrah

Haha… sounds awesome

Kebree, you are definitely going to be rejected. I mean c’mon, Kentucky!?!?!?!

I hear they have some mean fried chicken there.

Or so a certain Colonel says…

haha…i haven’t had fried chicken in years.

Thanks, Julian =)

I dislike fried chicken, too…I often wonder exactly what kind of meat they use, because it rarely resembles chicken. Yech.

Chicken strips are okay…but the KFC kind is often…um…“questionable”…

This is going to be a stupid question, and you’re going to say “gosh Zante, lexington’s not THAT small” but do you know the people who got married on the Today show?

this place is seriously going out of control in a day or two… if its not already!

No, sorry Zant :)

I do know a girl whose former cheerleading coach was on Amazing Race 3 with his dad (his name was Andrew and he was a cheerleader–see: http://web.realitytvworld.com/theamazingracesucks.com/cast3/dennis_andrew.shtml</a>)

I didn’t see any of the episodes, though.
