if a member of the faculty wants you to apply ed (and therefore have awesome ECs and making your application “flagged” at admissions), you have amazing essays, and AMAZING reccomendations that explain how enthusiatic you are, leadership, and other traits, especially related to what you were recruited for, could this outweigh a:
1400 SAT
slightly less than “most rigorous courseload” with 13/14 honors or ap with some B’s.
but still ranked top 10% in class?

and one more question:
how do they look at grades and sats in admissions?
do they compare grades of applicants and actually inpsect them? or is more of a system where they determine: “seems to me this candidate has over X sat, and seems to have done well in school” and then move soley on to the more subjective things like essays and recs? so I guess I am asking, do they just look at your transcipt to see if you have “minimum standards” and then focus very hard on the other stuff that sets you apart?
