Princeton Gideon Rosen Essay

Hi all,

I’m applying to Princeton this year, and I was hoping for your interpretation on the Gideon Rosen prompt.

I wrote about my Chinese culture and what not (new year, mandarin, etc) and I thought I was good, but my English teacher told me I misunderstood the prompt and that culture in this case means art.

Am I in the clear? I really think I read it correctly, but now I want to make sure.

Bump 10 char…

If it would help your English teacher, ask him/her to watch this video:
[Gideon Rosen on Culture and Value | The Social Rationalist](http://www.jacobroundtree.com/2012/09/09/gideon-rosen-on-culture-and-value/)

While I interpret this to mean he’s speaking of common culture as opposed to high culture, there is no “wrong answer”; they’re simply asking you to use the quote as a jumping off point, so feel free to write about whatever you want to write about.

Good luck.

Thanks! I watched the video, too, but just wanted to make sure.
