Princeton is One Classy Place!

So, after Princeton Preview ended (It was great BTW), I was instructed to catch a train to the airport, well the train got delayed and I ended up missing the flight. From there I was placed on standby, but the two flights later in the day were oversold, so I was going to have to stay the night in the airport. I had talked to Christopher Burkmar (Associate Dean of Admission) earlier and, to my utter surprise, he told me that he didn’t want me sleeping in the airport and then booked me a room in the Marriot, on Princeton’s expense. The thing about it was:

  1. I didn’t even ask, hint at, or request this in any way.
  2. I had not committed to the school.
  3. I’m not a full-paying student.
To me, this was truly an amazing gesture; it makes me very very honored to be attending Princeton University this fall. Princeton is one classy place!

Perhaps if you had committed to the school (or declined the offer), the outcome would have been different. Then again, it’s always easy to be classy with other people’s money; I’m sure he didn’t pay for your stay out of his own pocket.

I’m glad to see you had such a great experience, it really is the little things that count :)
