I’ll be honest. I am an International Applicant(India) to Pton. The only reason i even applied there is because of what i read in ‘A Beautiful Mind’. How does Princeton now compare to Princeton of the 1940s? What changes have come about, and is the Instutute of Advanced Studies still there and accessible to undergrads? After getting rejected from MIT, I am seriously considering Princeton (even considering the 42k price tag and Fin Aid with a relatively low reputation (atleast to indians)).
Thanks. And correct me about the FinAid if im wrong

1) Fin aid at princeton is top-notch
2) Princeton is very different now from what it was in the 40s
3) Inst of Advanced studies is still there (though I dont think its at all “accessible” to undergrads…)
4) Reputation among indians can be summed up in two sentences - a) My school consitently referred to it as Princeton College and often misspelled it as “Prinston”, b) Most people ask me “Princeton? Where is it?”

can’t believe reputation’s coming into this…!

ugh who cares if some ignorant people can’t spell princeton right

Yeah, Princeton has one of the best financial aid programs in the country. I realize it may be different for international students, but they don’t provide loans (meaning you don’t have to pay back a cent of what they give you) and I believe they guarantee that you’ll get whatever you need.

Also, the Institute for Advanced Studies is off-campus + isn’t affiliated with the University. But I think 400 and 500-level undergrad classes should challenge almost anyone enough. You can take classes at the Theological Seminary during the school year, though.

actually princeton has the best fin aid policy with no loans even for intls… it’s the best school ever, but yes nobody knows where it is… sad

ummm princeton has the best financial aid program for internationals. internationals and domestic kids get the same =P

guess i was wrong then. Thanks a lot guys

You only applied because of A Beautiful Mind?

waiit…you do know that there are women at Princeton now right??

I didnt even see A beautiful mind and I applied… lol. I decided to apply after some thinking about my visit

I didn’t like it that much, but probably because I saw it on a plane and I don’t tend to be in movie-watching moods on 13hr plane rides.

Someone suggested to my calc class that we watch it after APs, and I was like “ok i’ll support that–if I get in” lol

ha ha, if I get in I’ll buy my class a round of drinks :)

russell crowe was amazing in a beautiful mind, so is jennifer connelly, its worth watching just for them. also the campus is gorgeous in the movie…if i say so myself

wait zante, princeton isnt an all-male school?! ur not a guy?! WHAT?! :D

of course I’m a guy…with zantedeschia as an username…

i don’t like russel crowe, personally.

I’ll take that round of drinks…

mmm margaritas soon…

whooo! yum! haha

zante can have one of the strippers serve…ahh! who said that!

whered these strippers come from! oh well i better bust out those portable poles…

lol you carry around portable poles?
