Hi, I think there are some wrong answers/explanations on the 2nd Science test pg 220. If anyone is using that book, can you validate my suspicions? Or if I’m wrong, tell me why those are the answers.

Pg 225 #14. Answer is J. #16. Answer is B. Says S2 reaches 100F first at 35min. But I clearly see S1 first?

Pg 229 #25 Answer is A. Explains that Virus B has a steady growth pattern and C has a seasonal pattern. I see the opposite?

Pg 231 #33

If anyone can put my paranoia at ease that’d be great. :)

For Q14(pg225)- it is J because if you basically plot the values (0,15) for 0 minutes and 15F it comes out to be above S1 and S3 but below S2.

For Q16(pg225)- Answer is B because if you look at the question, it says that the candy begins to form when 100F is lost from the beginning temperature, which mixture begins to form first? , so according to figure 3 s2 if the closest to 100degrees(although it quite doesn’t touch 100Degrees) in almost 35min while s1 reaches 100degrees in almost 50 min. So with some extrapolation you can predict that s2 would be the first one to form candy.

For Q25(pg229)- I believe you are over analyzing, all you have to do is look at the graph and see where the C peaks over B which is in jan 2000 and feb 2000, which happens to be choice A ( Jan 2000)

For Q33(pg 231)- It tells you to look at Figure 3 and find out the distance of Protein B(solvent 2) when it is at 0 percent detection and use the that distance in the experiment with solvent 3 for Protein A to find out its %detection, So use 35mm distance, and the answer for the %detection of protein A in solvent 3 is 0%. So the Answer for this is A.
