Princeton SCEA Class of 2020 Applicant Thread

Deferred… haha expected this… ><

S is at school but must have found a way to check. He was accepted. Good luck to all who were not, I am 100% positive that you will do great things at whichever college you end up going to.

@meaa7130 For deferral, you get a letter?

Do they deffer a lot of applicants?

Accepted!! ~:> ~:> ~:>

I expected a deferral but it still hurts

For anyone swearing that URMs are an automatic in and are “grossly unprepared,” my son had multiple. He had the grades, will graduate with twice as many credits as even the local highly-ranked private schoolers will, great ECs, a LoR from his law mentor that he’s had since he was 12 yrs old and one from the professor of a college class in his major that he aced. Everything except for excellent SATs, ACTs, and SAT IIs because he only got to take them once and without any test prep. (His scores were average and above. Good enough to get him into many schools, but he didn’t quite reach 600 on any one area.)

Good luck to everyone that got deferrals and acceptances. So happy for you! ~:> :frowning:

@desiree2 yeah:

Dear Loser,
The admissions committee has completed its early action deliberations and has deferred a decision on your application until the spring. We received more than 4,000 early applications, and we had many more qualified candidates than we could admit. The committee recognized your record of achievement and appreciated the time, care and effort you put into your application.
Often a deferral means that the committee would like to see your senior year academic performance. Your application will be reconsidered in February and March with the entire applicant pool. Please be sure the Mid-Year School Report is sent to us as soon as your mid-year grades are available. If you would like us to review additional information, please send it to us by the end of January. Please be aware that we expect our regular decision process to attract a strong applicant pool.
We realize this defer decision is disappointing news, especially since Princeton may have been your first choice. We look forward to evaluating your application again with the rest of the applicant pool.

Dean of Admission

For those of us that are deferred, I find this post helps: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/19080479/#Comment_19080479

For future applicants who get to decision day and wonder how it goes: we started trying to log in at 2:15, 45 mins before decision release. Initially able to log in then got a message service was unavailable. After ten mins, got a message telling us to log in at 3 and would be put in a queue if volume was overloaded. Started hitting log in over and over at 2:55. At 2:58, was allowed to enter. Had to submit username and password. Logged me in and went in to a cue. Decision came up at 3:09.

Deferred. Truly disappointed. Would have chosen a negative decision to no decision.

.Deferring such a large percentage diminishes the concept of an EARLY action. Offer EA or don’t, but this is bait and switch. In the meantime, you required all eggs be put in your basket so we are starting from scratch and banished to RD April 1 with the masses. I would NOT recommend anyone apply SCEA as long as close to 80% of EA applicants get deferred.

DS was Accepted!! Hugs to all of you, such a wonderful community. Did we hear from azwu yet?

ACCEPTED!!!

does anybody know when the princetonian will publish some early action stats?

p.s. I notice that @ALibertarian, who never got the FA email, was accepted. We never got the confirmation email but DS was accepted, with [some, not enough ha ha] FA.
