Princeton Single-Choice Early Action Class of 2030 Official Thread

Usually 2-3, sometimes 4 in good years early. Harvard, Yale and Penn take more (5-8 per year) each class. Princeton always takes the least (of the Ivies ex. Dartmouth) from the NYC private schools. 6 is a very high number for EA.

Sounds like this is already a higher-than-usual number for early. Does it mean they won’t take any more kids regular decision?

Any insight why Princeton took so many (more) kids early this year?

Also, is there a reason Princeton takes less than other Ivys?

I find all these private feeder school Intel fascinating!

Sure, no doubt that is quite high, but w/o knowing if there is some unusual situation (twin lacrosse recruits or whatever) it may not be THAT weird or indicative of any real trend. right?

I went to a prep school and feel like there were sometimes weird bumps like this :person_shrugging: sometimes.

I don’t understand the focus on FGLI applicants. Every year is a tough year for every applicant to Princeton. Keep in mind that even after recruitment efforts, FGLI students will be hugely underrepresented at Princeton and at every other elite school.

In recent years the % of pell grant students is over 20%, so maybe that is a small number if stacked against everyone else, including real middle class families, but I think “hugely underrepresent” is a bit of a stretch.

I don’t think the overall composition on campus has changed, but anecdotally, it does seem that Princeton has prioritized this group during REA in the last two years.
