Princeton University 2024 RD

2022 1,894 6.46% does not seem to be right as the total admitted for 2022 is 1,941

Overall, the reduction of acceptance rate might be due to the increase of total applicants:

Year 2024 2023 2022 2021 2020 2019 2018 2017 2016 2015
Applications 32,836 32,804 35,370 31,056 29,303 27,290 26,641 26,498 26,664 27,189
Admits 1,823 1,895 1,941 1,894 1,908 1,939 1,931 2,095 2,300

The yield appears to be trending up also.

It is hard to say whether the EA admits are more qualified or more likely to attend than the regular round of admits.

You are correct. The 2022 RD admit number is actually 1142. With ED Admits 799. I got the correct numbers from Princeton’s announcement on March 28, 2018. Total number of RD applications in 2022 was 29,968 (SCEA number of applications was 5402). The RD numbers I posted before were from toptieradmissions and the 2022 year RD numbers are not correct.

RD should be:
2024 1,032 3.71%
2023 1,152 4.19%
2022 1,142 3.81%

These numbers make more sense. Thanks for your help @mwt2020

Does Princeton still mail t-shirts to admitted students? It appears Yale and Columbia do. And I read from CC that Princeton used to send t-shirts.

Yale, Harvard and MIT sent shirts this year. Stanford sent a hat and cool virtual tour googles.

The Yale tee, water bottle and sticker was really nice. Nothing from Brown or Princeton. I think my daughter told me that Princeton did ask for size and they will get them on campus.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the water bottle. Also a Yale-branded USB power pack.

During the Preview Day, Princeton hands out a bunch of stuff, but because there wasn’t one this year, I don’t know whether they’ll mail things, instead. But once you’re enrolled, they hand out so many t-shirts (practically at every home games) that some students actually even complained that the university should use the money for better things. On the move in day, Princeton surprised us with a hard copy of coffee table book on Princeton worth around $60 a copy. During the incoming freshmen ceremony, it rained, so my son’s residential college gave every student a rain jacket with the residential college logo that wasn’t of cheap quality. Free t-shirts, mugs, and whatnot from residential college and every club you belong to. My son’s a member of an a capella group on campus, and this super rich alumnus, who was a member of the same a capella group while he was a student at Princeton, treated all the current members to a 5-star restaurant before they all went home due to Covid-19, provided them with a custom designed travel case, as well as uniform with the acapella logo. Shortly after my son came home, we received a package containing another uniform. Two weeks later, another package arrived with another uniform. I’d much rather he send bundles of cash. Campus food? Outside of the dining plan, free food is everywhere and at all hours. Don’t worry if Princeton ends up not sending you anything over the mail as a welcoming gesture. You’ll be inundated with free stuff once on board.

As a parent, I’m aware that campus health centers are not emergency rooms and not do provide the level of care that a hospital would provide. This is my second child at Princeton and my 3rd in college and I must say that when one of my children needed medical attention, it was handled in the most excellent, professional manner and the staff at the Princeton Health Center were fully capable. I’m so sorry about what happened to that young lady and I am glad she is well. I’m hoping that once students get back on campus that they will follow the social guidelines to the letter, not think they are exempt, take this pandemic seriously and not undermine what everyone is working so hard for. It would be ashamed for everyone to be sent home because of the impulsivity and selfishness of some.

@Sarrip Thanks! My teammate is heading there. Great to know.
