Congrats to everyone who was accepted! Hard bring deferred — it was a disappointing night. 35 ACT, IBDP+APs, 4.00, multiple gen legacy. Oh well. Planning on sending LOCI early next week but I know not to get my hopes up. Good luck to everyone.

Following up, stats on my kid who got an acceptance (applied BSE - if that’s how it works, unsure if you apply for BSE later?):
4.0, 1560 SAT, 4 DE math classes beyond Calc B/C, took all APs available except two lower-level ones (school does not offer many - maybe 8?), took honors for all other core courses. ECs were fine but nothing insane like you hear about. Smaller public school, in no way a feeder school but lots of competent teaching.

I know parents and some kids come through for tips & tricks. I have none, but here are some observations:

  • Kiddo said interview went really well (even knowing that interviews are mostly about keeping alums connected to their alma mater)
  • Q1 grades were sent to all EA schools, so we have no idea if Princeton requested grades or not
  • We did not use an essay consultant or SAT tutor. Kiddo used free SAT resources (can’t remember the name - Kundiman?)
  • ECs cover a lot of ground - there’s no spike, although several out-of-school ECs relate to engineering. This is a well-rounded kid who’s pursued whatever they like with zero thought about college admissions.

For future applicants, just wanted to say that I was accepted with a Q1 grade request. By no means was that a definite sign of admission, though. My AO must’ve fought for me hard in committee. :smiling_face::smiling_face:

For all those deferred or rejected, please do not give up hope! There are so many other fantastic schools out there and you all are accomplished enough that you can change the world no matter what school you end up attending. Best of luck! :heartpulse::heartpulse::heartpulse:
