Is it worth it to bring a printer at Yale? Ink and stuff can get costly but I can see the convenience in having a printer in your own room. How much does printing and stuff cost if you use Yale’s printers? Thanks!

This was discussed on the Facebook group, and the upperclassmen recommended bringing your own printer if you have one since it’s a lot more convenient. It’s better for procrastination, and you don’t have to walk in the cold to the library. I think it costs ~.07 cents per page to print at Yale (might vary depending on the place on campus). I plan on bringing mine. You probably won’t go through all of your ink and paper in a year anyway.

I brought my own printer but I almost never used it as I studied in the library mostly. The vast majority of people I know never study in their rooms and it’s super convenient to just print things out at the cluster.

Oh and if you live on campus I don’t think you’ll have to go outside to get to a cluster.

The real solution is to get a job with tech, or work in a lab with computer/printer access, as both ways you get free printing :P.

Other than that, I would say if it is easy to bring a printer do it, as it is uber-convenient to have one in your room/common room.

Bring your own printer – it’s incredibly useful. Even if you do work in the libraries/clusters, often, the printers are out of order (I know for fact that the CT hall printers rarely ever work). The convenience is definitely worth the paper/ink.
