This is so creepy. What can be done? We all put down our devices and quit Facebook?
I don’t answer those questions when my apple watch asks my mood or if I took my meds. They do know what they are though because I added it to my health app. So how does Meta get that info unless you give it to them via the wearable device - I guess, just don’t wear it.
I’ve never trusted Zuckerberg, so I’ve never had a Facebook account.
Good heavens - NO WAY would I knowingly be part of this (and I sure as heck don’t want to be part of it unknowingly). When I hear comments from people in government saying that all Americans should have a wearable, I think Twilight Zone … and this article reinforces my beliefs.
That was good advice from day one. ![]()
So the trend is wearables in the medical sector and to gain as much information like this. This could turn into something for psychologist per se etc. There is also another sector about making digital twins and different version to help with predictive analysis to prevent disease in the future. I am not discounting the conversation.
Also in the future this can be helpful to have reminders for someone to take their meds in an assisted living situation or just by themselves. It’s not all evil but unfortunately there are evil people in tech. Lol.
This is a company getting some traction. I have had conversations with the founder and it’s very interesting.
FreeHealth.ai — an OS for your health. FreeHealth.ai — an OS for your health.
Not just in tech …
And this is what terrifies me.
Yes, the flip side, a good application might be a digital AI assistant robot clone that is never sick, and takes care of me if I were to be ill or demented.
Companies already of you. Lol.
So something to look at is like Google Health /Fit. I use to to connect to my sports watch! (Amazfit Active 2…amazing for the price). It connects its software to connect to my scale etc. I can also take a Pic of my food and it will calculate the fat, calories and etc and is pretty accurate. It’s sleep mode is pretty good and of course steps and any activity I do. So lots of people are tracking to some extent. Making useful choices with the information is another story.
In related news…
Good thing my Instagram account is exclusively for following small vendors and artists. No pictures on my account!
All my health data is on my apple watch or my online provider portals - they don’t share with Meta, do they?
Don’t know but learned there’s issues with Google keyboard ![]()
Not meaning to go totally off topic but I was approached by a company that data mines patient information to have it used in a central location
IE… you go to hospital A but Dr B doesn’t belong or part of it. They would go to this third party and read your chart. I told them I didn’t want anything to do with that.
The sad thing about gleaning all this health data from various sources is that it is very beneficial in a single location for all our doctors to see whenever they need to. But because of the lack of trust of everyone and every organization today, and for very good reasons, they earned that lack of trust, we don’t want to allow it. Maybe one of these days things we be done for the good of the people instead of the profitability of a few of the people and they’ll start to earn our trust back.
So “Trust “is a key word used in meetings in the medical sector I am in. How to gain both patient and clinical trust.
How does a Medical professional trust Open Evidence which is one of the most used medical AI tools out there when pharmaceuticals invest millions upon millions of dollars into it. Doesn’t anyone think that might corrupt and create biased reporting? It’s one reason we don’t take any outside money and we have doctors like me in almost every area building the product.
At my lectures doctors often ask how do they can trust X product in medical AI. But yet they will plop patient information into a chat and not even one made for clinicians. Ugh.
Setting up a governance is key and really not hard to do.
I refuse to use anything AI,and I was surprised that my sisters were kind of meh.
Happy to see that Meta decided to stop the AI on IG.
I use swift key and not Google keyboard.

I stopped using Facebook very early on and told my kids and wife not to use it.
On the other hand, I think the tech companies (Apple, Amazon and Google; less so Meta and Microsoft) know a lot about me already. And now I have been using Gemini, Claude and ChatGPT for lots of things. Gemini and Claude say that they do not use my data in training. I have an elaborate months-long conversation with Gemini involving my health, my training regimen on Zwift, my outdoor bike, my TRX and my trainer (core exercises). I feed it data from my cadence sensor, heart monitor, power usage and things like altitude and distance. It knows the drugs I take and why and the surgeries I’ve had. I was having an issue and it provided a diagnosis that my doctor was uncertain about and looked at various possibilities (involving blood tests, endoscopy/colonoscopy, etc.) and she ultimately concurred with Gemini’s diagnosis. I’ve even asked Gemini to help me pick from the menu of a restaurant to find the choices best for my health.
I’ve asked ChatGPT and Gemini to help me choose cars for ShawWife and for me, to figure out which bike rack to buy and where to get a trailer hitch installed, how to connect my wife’s new car to wifi for a software upgrade, for ideas on US tax consequences of a possible inheritance from Canada, etc. I have not experienced targeted advertising from this, though I have targeted advertising when I started Google searches for things like rubber mats for my wife’s new car.
My company purchases a higher level of Gemini through its Google Workspace for Enterprise or something like that. I don’t know if they would be using my data for training or advertising if we were puchasing a lesser level of software.
Thansks for the heads up on Gboardd It was on my iPad (though not my iPhone). I think I used if for swiping rather than typing, but its microphone is not. good. But per the article, @Knowsstuff, I turned off full access, which elimiantes its ability to connect to the internet.
