Is there such a thing as counselors specifically for transfers?
I’m currently a sophomore at a private 4 year college so there aren’t any resources on campus that will help me with transferring.
You are pretty much going to have to do this on your own, but you can get useful help here. You also can discuss your thoughts with your advisor at your current college. You are not the first student who has considered transferring out.
Yes, there are private college consultants who work exclusively with transfers – I am one of them. You can also find a lot of information online as well as on this message board (just don’t take the “chances” threads to heart).
Some other potentially helpful information:
If you go to the common data set of the schools you’re considering, you can see their latest statistics for transfer acceptances.
For financial aid information, you can look at the College Board’s website, the common data set, or US News (though US News costs $$).
The universities can be evasive about the college acceptance rates between individual colleges at their schools; you will have to dig deeper to find out those stats.
Good luck!
