Private dining in LA for small intimate group

Does anyone have any suggestions for restaurants in the LA area we could check out where we could hold a small family gathering of about 8-10 people, all adults? Preferably one where we could arrange for a private dining room or out-of-the main traffic dining spot? It’s a very special occasion, so we would like the ability to talk, reminisce, and toast without competing with the normal decibel levels of a busy restaurant. A pre-fixe menu would be acceptable (and perhaps preferred), but with that small a group, maybe not a criteria or an option.

We’ve looked on-line, but not being really familiar with the area, we end up just finding lists of “best of”. I’d really appreciate some suggestions based upon personal experience or recommendations from actual patrons familiar with what is available that may or may not hit those marketing lists.

Il Cielo in BH has private dining room(s)
Culina at Four Seasons (if you’re lucky, you might find a Travelzoo)
A Food Affaire (Robertson, has a private patio; prix fixe for $50/pp)
189 by Dominique Ansel (The Grove - presently is running a Travelzoo for $49/pp)
AGO in WeHo has a private wine room (very nice but $$$)
Cal Mare (Beverly Center - running a Travelzoo right now; food is excellent and plentiful)
Craft LA ($$$)
Shutters on The Beach
and a little bit further out, in Malibu, The Pier Cafe (no private dining, but stunning location)

Thank you! I start checking them out. ?

LA covers a large area and has notoriously bad traffic. Choosing a restaurant too far away from the group’s homes or hotels could possibly entail hours of travel time to and from.

Do you have a region of the city in mind that would be the most convenient?

I LOVE Shutters on the Beach.

Yes, was going to ask where you’re staying or where the group is coming from. “LA” really comprises a large area.

If you’ll be on the westside, I recently went to a private gathering at Boltaire in Brentwood and they did a fabulous job. Our group was larger but they may have something smaller for you.

We will be staying at a place in Marina del Rey just blocks from Venice Beach. We will also be around the USC area part of the time. I’ve been around the Hollywood area on previous visits and that area seemed doable logistically. LAX is a mere twenty minute drive from our location.

We’ve been to the Malibu Farm (not Cafe, though) for dinner previously. Loved it! But afraid the logistics of that drive at the time of day (evening) would make it prohibitive. We thoroughly enjoyed its view, relaxing atmosphere, and the farm-to-table offerings. But I don’t think it will work for this particular outing. Another time, it will be on our list.

Also, Barrique in Venice, quiet and intimate (sit on the roof for drinks)
Catch at Casa del Mar
No.1 Pico (at Shutters; they have a little ante-room off the main restaurant)
James’ Beach (may be a bit too lively, but the food is good!)
Gladstone’s (no private dining but sit on deck and eat; very quiet and enjoyable. Food is good but not gourmet!))

We used to love Burger Continental near Old Town Pasadena, but sadly it has closed. We did have a private party for H there once. Sounds like you will have a lovely event!

Look at Wally’s in Santa Monica. I have been to the Wally’s in Beverly Hills several times. They offer private dining – last time I was there Kris Jenner was holding court in the Barrel Room. It’s not inexpensive – but it’s one of the best places I have ever eaten. The Santa Monica location is less than a year old. (Full disclosure, my son is part of the financial management team which is why I have been there several times)

One of the nicest meals I’ve had lately was at Deluca Pasta in El Segundo (just south of LAX) - it’s a well run mom & pop that hand makes all of their pastas. I actually went for a small dinner party which was held on their intimate patio - I think there were 16 guests. They will accommodate on the patio if they are able to. https://www.delucapasta.com

Thank you all. I will check them all out. ?
