Private Equity Senior

I just received a call from a Triage company notifying me that I can intern for them during this summer. I applied for their accounting & consulting internship position and they had openings on consulting and private equity; two positions for me to choose from. I didn’t get the accounting position. Instead, I will be matched up with a Private Equity senior working side by side as a intern.

I was wondering what are the tasks and responsibilities a Private Equity “senior” perform on a daily basis? Do they partake a significant role in the company? Pitching deals, making offers, or cold-calling, etc? I would like to get a feel on a private equity senior field before I step foot into the waters over accounting/consulting, etc.

What kind of personalities and/or characteristics do you need to work and succeed in a private equity industry?

Does anyone out there have a good understanding or had worked in the private equity or finance industry for some time that can help fill me in on some 411? I could really use some additional information on the private equity field before I choose to accept this internship position or not over the consulting/accounting positions. Thanks.
