I’m an international student and Rice has has been one of my choices for a while now. I’ve never done SAT’s in my life tho (will be doing them near Christmas), and my school does not have honors or awards, which kinda puts me in a bad light
The school system in my country is so different, even tho they say it’s the best in the world
But anyway… I live with my mom, whose income is around $30,000 a year so not much, she’s a practical nurse. This means, that if I got into Rice, I would need to take HUGE loans for the whole 5 years of study and I would like to know, is it worth it? I’m planning on applying to the school of architecture. In my country universities are free, but also VERY competitive and I know for sure, that I would never get into any of the architecture schools in here. 5,000 students apply, 2-12 are taken in… So yea, I do not belong into those lucky ones. Therefore, I’m wanting to study in the U.S. cause I would at least have a chance to be able to do what I’ve always dreamed of, which is architecture. I have already applied for a $20,000 scholarship, and my country is giving $10,000 scholarships for students that go to study in the states, so… If I was lucky enough, maybe I could at least get some aid from those. And of course my country would be aiding me enough at least to pay off the on-campus living, but that’s about it. Thank you for the answers in advance!

I believe Rice has international student scholarships you can apply for. Rice, like most schools in the US, likes international students to increase its global reputation. So I say apply to Rice and the Rice-sponsored scholarships. You have nothing to lose by applying.
