private --> ucla

Is it hard for a student from a private university to transfer to ucla? I am interested in transferring into the School of Theater, Film, and Television.

Thank You

As I understand it, getting into UCLA TFT program is highly competitive. The number of spaces vary from year to year. The program is OUTSTANDING, and if you feel you are qualified, then why wouldn’t you apply? At the same time, know that you may be qualified, but they may still not accept you. Give it your best shot!

Only 30 gets admitted to the TFT each year… 15 for Theatre major, and 15 for Film and TV major…

Literally the hardest major to break into in the entire UC system (Haas is a joke compared to TFT). Even the in-staters have hard time getting in.

Good luck.

Edit: ok apparently I have no idea what I’m talking about… I thought someone in the board mentioned that they leave 15 spaces for one of the major under TFT… but checking at the yearly rate, the number seems to vary. However, you’d be able to see that although the number isn’t 30 every year, it’s very close to it (32, 28, 35) and had consistently had admit rate below 7%.
