oh i forgot to say thank you!

For the schools that take under 10% who were not top 10% in HS, it will be very tough.

Really consider whether you want to use your app to explain the grade drop. Your reason might be worthy, but most end up sounding like whining, and writing excuses usually does no good anyway, especially at top colleges.

Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, Rice: medium reach
Vanderbilt, USC, CMU, Emory, NYU, University of Texas: fit
Columbia: high reach

You have impressive extracurricular activities, however, your SATs and GPA are somewhat low. I suggest taking more SAT II’s, which would increase your chances, especially if you do well!

You could also take the ACTs (many people feel that the ACTs are most digestable).
Good luck!

@Red Roses, is being in top 10 really that critical, i know its very important but i didnt think… how much would not being in 10% lower my chances: like 50% to 30% or 50% to 10%
and my explanation is more like a i know i messed up but i fixed what messed me up, i would think that explaining it would be better than having no explanation for such a sharp downturn

It is critical. The schools report the numbers and take them very seriously. Unfortunate, but reality. When a school like an ivy has only a few percent who were not top 10% and you understand nearly half the class has a hook, a hookless candidate who would effect the numbers is highly, highly unusual.

hah oh well, cant do anything now. In any case, thank you Redroses.

The best thing you can do now is take a hard look at the list, throw in some more matches and make sure you have financial and academic safeties.
