Hi all, I am going to become a junior in the following school year. Recently i got a mail in vacation from my school suddenly saying that I am placed on Disciplinary Probation due to my excessive lateness. My probation status will be re-evaluated at the end of next school year. If my behavior has improved probation may be lifted. My main concern is that will this go on my transcript and affect my chances of getting into my wanted colleges?
Ask your guidance counselor.
Personally, for my school, it won’t show up on your permanent record for lateness, even though my school does take it pretty seriously. You get a detention for 4-5 tardies (depending on how nice your teacher is) and you get on probation for 5+ tardies. It won’t be on your permanent record.
Start taking being on time seriously…if you go to college you may be docked points for lateness or even not let in the classroom in some cases. If you are late to a lab they won’t let you do it. Also when you work, you need to be on time or you will get fired.
For your case, it would appear that they are giving you a chance to redeem yourself…if you stop the lateness then you will not have displinary issues on your transcript. Take this second chance and get to school/class on time!!!
Amen to bopper! Tardiness at school and work has important consequences as was pointed out Being frequently late also has implications about you such as whether you are serious or committed to classes or jobs, can,you be depended on, are you responsible and can control your behavior …? Both school and work involve tasks, behaviors,
and obligations as well as demonstrate whether you have the personal characteristics needed to succeed. If your lateness is sufficient to result in probation, whether you are admitted to your desired college is not relevant. What makes you think you would behave any different there? Develop responsibility for arriving on time!
