Problem: ACT too much higher than SAT?

2260 vs. 36. What now? I have 2390 on the SATII’s, just bombed the SATs. Will colleges get suspicious?

You have a 2390 on the SAT IIs?..Did you add up your three SAT IIs, because you’re not supposed to do that…and getting a 2260 on the SAT Is is hardly bombing it.

But compared to a 36 on the ACT a 2260 is bombing. I believe less than 200 people a year get a perfect score on the ACT. Much harder to achieve than a perfect score on the SAT. ACT has a larger drop-off as you get into the top scores.

2260 is bombing the SAT…wow I must be screwed then

I get the feeling that I saw this thread some where else already…I mean I saw the same thread by the OP

Colleges are never suspicious of the ACT. You realize only 200 some people get a 36 with every ACT test session? A 36 is a major accomplishment…and if you had a 2260 on the SAT, it’s nothing to be suspicious of.

How on earth is 2260 bombing your SAT? Most colleges will consider any individual SAT score of a 720 or greater to be equivalent to an 800. It sounds like you did that on all three sections…so in no way did you bomb it. And even if you didn’t, only something like 1% of test takers get anywhere near a 2260.

The only reason you’d ever be rejected from a college is that you’re too obsessive about test scores and don’t care enough about anything that might actually interest you.

What I meant was, I was wondering if colleges will discount my 36 because I have a lower SAT score. I’m worrying about every little thing because at Stanford, every little thing helps… And I figured I’d ask to see, as noone has addressed this before…

And yes, I have 800/800/790 on three SATII’s. I just tried to be concise.

I’m pretty sure it has been addressed before…all the big colleges value the ACT and the SAT equally. Therefore, no, they won’t discount your 36 on the ACT just because you didn’t get a 2400 on the SAT.
