Problem with Pre-Application

While trying to submit the pre-application for international applicants, I am getting the following error:

“The application you are attempting to access is not currently available.
Please try again later.”

Has anybody else encountered this and found a work-around? I was using Safari on Mac. Also tried IE on Windows, but neither worked, so I sent them a mail, and I got this reply.

"The following information may help you complete your on-line application:

The suggested browser for the web application at CMU is Netscape 4.0 or higher excluding Netscape 5.0. In addition, users must also use the free Adobe Acrobat Reader version 5.0.

Here are some tips we have if you are having problems with the application:

If you can see the pdf forms but cannot access the data and you receive an error message; you are using a version of Acrobat that is less than 5.0. You should upgrade to 5.0 or to a helper application for FDF data.

Also, if you are trying to access the data and a window opens up and explains to you that you are trying to access data of type FDF and gives you options to save, pick an application, or cancel; you should try to utilize the FDF data format (which is an Adobe format), Reader should be configured as a helper application for .fdf files.

You should click on the pick an application option, and move through the available choices until Reader 5.0 is found. Reader 5.0 should be selected (on Windows machines this may be called Accord32.exe, inside the Reader folder).

The second option is in Netscape, under edit, select preferences, applications, search the listing for Adobe Forms Date Format, application/vnd.fd in the application line. .FDF in the suffix line, and select either Reader 5.0 (MAC) or Accord32.exe (Windows) as the helper application."

I am able to complete the form. I tried installing the Adobe Reader plugin too on my Mac but that didnt work either. Has anyone here managed to submit a pre-app successfully?
