Problem....

So, I attend a school in Saudi Arabia where the AP system is still pretty new. I’m taking an advanced mathematics class, which basically encompasses precalculus in junior year and AP calculus in senior year. However, due to some complications, we weren’t able to finish precalculus last year and had to continue it this year, taking up about 75% of first semester. We are doing calculus now and I feel like the teacher is rushing through (he is not a very good teacher) and we’re still on the 3rd chapter out of 8 chapters in the book. I decided to self-study for an extra subject just in case i decide to cancel taking the AP calculus ( which is in about a month). I will be substituting it with AP Psychology. My question is…will colleges mind? If I explain my situation will they understand, or do I have to take the exam?

Also, I thought i should clarify that i have applied to the top universities including some ivy leagues.

Saudi Arabia? Isn’t that where the war is at now? Because of the oil??

^^ Sigh…

■■■■■…

Look like lemone needs to study human geography next year. lol

So, if you’re a senior and you have applied for the Ivies, there would be no point in studying for the AP exams unless you mentioned to the schools that you’re going to take the AP exams.

I mentioned that I was taking the classes, does that mean that I necessarily have to take the exams?

And wow, lemone. Just wow.

You don’t have to take the exams. It’s your decision if you want to take the exams or not. Besides, even if you did take the exam, it will be after college acceptance letters, and AP Score Report are given during the summer. The only point for taking the AP exam is to receive college credit and be exempted from a college course.

I can’t tell if lemone is being sarcastic.

You have to take the Exam to get the credit, taking the class is meaningless really.

^Well, actually, the class would provide some background for the college counterpart. Besides, it would much more of a waste of money if ivyambition doesn’t get a 4/5 on the AP exam since he’s applying to the ivies. And he did stated that the class did not cover much of the important topics, so it’s one of those times when it’s advisable not to take the exam, unless ivyambition is extremely motivated to study for the exam.

Buy a princeton review book. Go through it.

Enough said. However, jerrry4445 is right. Unless you are well motivated, don’t bother. But I believe it can be done.
