Problems signing up for an AP exam

I planned to take the US Government AP exam to complement an elective that I’m taking. I marked this on my college applications, brought the books, and even started to study but my school has told me because I am the only one who plans to take this exam they won’t procter it.
I wrote to College Board and they told me that no schools in my area have given them permission to disclose information regarding their availability of that exam. I tried calling local public high schools and many have told me either no or that they’re not offering the exam.

I’m considering just not taking the exam now because I was only doing it for pleasure; none of my top three choices even offer credit if I do well too. I’m worried though because I had marked on my applications that I was taking the exam and I don’t want to be viewed as dishonest. I can provide documentation proving my efforts if need be - what do you guys think I should do?

try taking it outside of your town. i’m sure you are dedicated enough to make a 2/3 hour drive.

Talk to your ap coordinator to help you find a school in a big city. Explain him/her you situation and he/she should understand (they wouldn’t want you to be a liar  )

thepotato is right.
I am planning to take APHuG at a school 2 hrs 30 mins away from home. Maybe you should consider that option.

All right, I’ll expand my search… thanks for the advice!

thepotato: to clarify what I meant when I said I was considering not taking the exam, I meant notifying the admissions offices too (I just wasn’t sure if it would look bad or not). I didn’t plan to lie about not taking an exam that I said I would
