Problems With ECs

Most of my ecs are only going to be for grades 11 and 12. I can talk passionately about what I have done, but how badly will this hurt me? I was partially to blame for not taking initiative, but I also moved to a new school sophomore year. This school was literally brand new as I will be a part of it’s first graduating class next year, and clubs didn’t actually start up until a year after the school had been established (which was during my junior year).

All colleges are far more interested in your stats than your ECs. For only a relative few colleges are ECs very important, and those are the most competitive colleges in the country – the ones that can afford to use ECs to pick and choose from among an overabundance of high stat applicants that most colleges gladly would accept.

When you say most competitive do you mean HYPSM, Cal Tech leve collegesl or colleges that are highly ranked but not as high (Carnegie, UCLA, USC, NYU etc.)?

The ECs are most important for HPYSM level colleges.
