I agree that your family contributing $2,500 out if a $7,300 yearly income is very generous. It is a huge sacrifice from your family and relatives m, which is added to the cost of the tests and travelling there.
You want to honor those sacrifices by spending the money wisely.
(Note to posters: $2,500 is a huge amount in Peru. It is not the cost of a year of college there. The best private university’s tuition is about $300 a year, which is already considered huge. The standard of living is quite unlike that in richer Latin American countries, although it is more stable: an atrocious civil war just ended so the country is trying to recover but is much better compared to where it was ten years ago.)
Your best hopes rest upon Yale and Princeton.
However unless you’re a nationally published author, the Math Olympiad winner, a concertist with records or qualified for the Olympics, your odds there are zero with a 1100.
You didn’t get enough guidance but now you’ve found college confidential and the community here will help you find universities where you can apply, how to shape your application, etc.
The most important thing is for you to improve your test scores. So, you need to find an internet connection and work using Khan academy.
Can you work during a Gap year, or volunteer somewhere, or both?
SJU is a small college NOT worth debt. You must simply email them and say they aren’t affordable, so, sorry, you have to turn them down.
If you don’t get into Yale or Princeton (and right now those are the odds), you can still apply to cheaper colleges than SJU. Even now.
Colleges still accept applications although none that will cover your need. However by applying there you will get admissions and will be able to show many acceptances to save face. You’ll explain your supporters and relatives that the acceptances indicate you have good odds next year when you apply to universities that cover financial need for internationals. Then you can prepare a real list of colleges you haven’t applied to yet and build your application carefully.
BTW, are you a boy or a girl?
