problems with USC health insurance

I have been going to physical therapy for about 2 months for some knee problems, which should have been covered by the USC Aetna student health insurance. I even called them at the beginning of the summer to double check. I received a call from Aetna today saying they’re not going to cover it because it was a personal injury. They believe that USC should pay for it because I hurt my knee in an exercise science class. I don’t understand what I am paying $1000 for if they refuse to cover these physical therapy sessions.

Has anyone else had problems with the Aetna? Any advice? I’ve contacted several departments at USC and Aetna, but no one is really directing me in the right way.

I’ve been reading reviews about Aetna and a lot of people don’t seem to be happy with their services :/

That’s interesting. Where have you been having PT sessions? I’ve had ok dealings with Aetna so far, but it’s been mainly related to non-injury hospital visits. You could request written information on the specific insurance claim to see under what policy they refused to cover it.

I’ve been going to a PT clinic in Sunnyvale. I was able to get in touch with the referral manager at USC and hopefully everything will be okay.
