I recently posted a question about switching colleges before the school year starts. After talking with my father we both decided I should stay at a local college for this year.
Im wondering how I drop this first college? How should I talk to my counselor about it? Thank you for any feedback!!
Your HS counselor has nothing to do with any commitment you made to the college. Call the distant college and inform them that you’re withdrawing. It happens all the time. They may try to give your spot to someone else. You may lose any deposit you may have made with the other college – that’s the price you pay.
But that’s all that is required.

Make sure you have a rock solid commitment from the second college. Then call the first college and tell them you are not coming. They’ll tell you what you need to do in terms of formally notifying them.
