Product Realization Minor

Is this minor good for a M E major? I kind of like the idea of hands-on work. That’s why I’m looking into it. I only need 3 extra credits (1 class) to get the minor, because half of the required credits are already required for M E major and the rest will just fill the electives.

If it sounds cool, go for it!

The description doesn’t do a good a job of describing the actual minor–the vast amount of buzz words makes my head hurt.

It looks to be a good choice for someone who wants to be specifically a design engineer for consumers.

holy goat humping a dog batman!! That’s exactly the kind of class I want to take!! Plus I’m going to be a M E too so hopefully my college offers that!

Is this a common minor? I mean “common” as in companies know what it is and I don’t have to explain it to them.

Son will be a senior mechE and is taking an elective class by this title. After two summers of engineering employment, he thinks this sounds very close to real-world projects. So I would think that employers might really value Product Realization as a minor if you can get it.

Well, no, but explaining it’s not a huge problem. Your major’s pretty traditional. You could get a minor in underwater basketweaving if you’d like, it’s not going to hurt you. If it’s something you think you’d enjoy, sign up for it! After explaining it to potential employers, they might even thing it’s pretty interesting, and valuable to what they do.
