Prof. Wrote LOR in like 10minutes

I asked for the letter a few months back, and reminded him 20minutes ago THROUGH EMAIL. I checked 5minutes ago and it’s been submitted. So I assume he saw my email and cranked it out in 15minutes. He could have started earlier for all I know, but he’s kinda forgetful.
I’m expecting this to be an exceptional letter. Now I’m kinda worried that it was a one sentence letter or even worse, a bad one.
Doesn’t it usually take longer than 15minutes for professors to write these letters?

He probably has a template.

There’s a decent chance he did most of it back then and just forgot to submit it. Or was too lazy to look up the link to submit to letter.

I’d suspect that last comment is most likely. He had probably written at least most of it before, then thought he’d come back to it to check/mull it over before submitting. Once you sent the reminder, he probably just went ahead and put it in.
Just my guess, though.

If you asked him a few months ago, that’s a pretty large time frame. He may have started back when you asked - maybe even finished - and forgot to submit, or where to submit. Unless the letter was due in 20 minutes there was no reason for him to knock one out in 15 instead of taking a little more time to do it well.

Sounds like he’s one to do things when asked if he responded so quickly to your e-mail. This may suggest that when you asked him a few months ago, he reacted similarly and got started on it right away. I wouldn’t jump to conclusions.

Yeah I was too quick to jump to conclusions. He sent me an email saying it was already submitted, which implied that he had submitted before I even sent the email. What a coincidence.
