I’m filling out a professional judgment form to appeal for more financial aid, and I’m wondering if I send that in and wait for my financial aid decision BEFORE I commit? I want to go to NYU for sure but I don’t know if I have to wait or commit now.

A few days, maybe. New Yorkers are very efficient. Seriously, I was surprised and impressed by the pace and quality of their work.
The quickest way is to fax it in, IMHO.

Yes, NYU Financial Aid office informed me the response to an appeal comes very quickly (days). One agent even told me I could do the appeal over the phone and get a response the next day. I have since been informed of the Professional Judgment Form (so that is not consistent with the “phone/verbal” appeal I was initially told about). Hence, I am repeating a second agent’s response of “days” (and similar reassurance that NYU’s FA appeal process is a fairly rapid process).
