I am a rising senior planning to apply to some professional masters programs (M Engg CS in Cornell, MCS in UIUC, etc.) soon. However, I only have research and TA experience, and lack any sort of internship and work experience. Will that affect my chances?
I think the answer is quite obvious, it can. However, no one can truly determine if and when you apply, that you will be denied because of the absence of internship or work experience alone. Why don’t you contact some Master level students and see if they have any advice for you. Try to understand the kind of rigor and or skill set is needed for the majority of candidates of your college of choice.
Also, if you have the time and money, why not visit the campus’ directly, this way you can know for sure what your plan of action is to be. You have a 4.0 in CS, have some faith.
