Professional Pigeon Hunting

Alright, so hopefully that grabbed your attention. If this title appears commonplace to you and you believe there is nothing out-of-the-ordinary, well, then…I don’t even know.

On to the topic:

Could you help me find a school with an intellectual forum type of atmosphere? Here’s what I mean.

If I were in a philosophy class and the topic of the day were “Existence vs. Essence: Which Came First?”, I would want the students to want to contribute to the discussion, but not necessarily want to be correct. More than contributing, I would want the students to want to hear the opinions of others and broaden their minds from the views of their peers. If I have a debate, I don’t need to be correct, I just want to hear the argument of the other side. To hear both points of view. I hope this makes sense. Essentially, I would want an open form with an intellectual atmosphere however the students would be respectful and eager to hear from others.

Any ideas???

I heard NYU has a good Philosophy program from a prof today. If they teach critical thinking correctly and not dogmatically, then that may be what you’re looking for.
