Which is the most balanced field of careers?

With balance I mean the time one has to mix professional life with plenty of freetime activities, start true “extra-curriculars” and constantly learn new things about the world, and to be up-to-date with all new technologies.

In few words I’m asking what kind of career, behaviour or job area allows one to earn a lot and also enjoy an open lifestyle (not just on weekends and holidays, but everyday).

I think many of you would suggest “freelancer”. But is there no other option. A placement where you have a tight and safe grip but you can do many things?

For example, I would like to go to conservatory and continue my music studies (vocals or composition).
Would I have the time to do so if I had a job in the field of economics, finance, international relations, etc.?

Managers and businessmen, I.Bankers, etc. earn a lot of money, but can they “afford” to learn totally new things (aircraft piloting? a new degree? new languages, other learnable stuff) and be seriously involved in unrelated activities during their freetime?
