I haven’t actually started applying yet, but from what I’ve read it seems that you need to have a number of professor recommendations.

But, do these HAVE TO BE PROFESSOR recommendations? Or can they be from other qualified people as well? Such as the president of the student body at my cc?

For example, if it says 2 professor recs, can 1 be a professor and the other be the president? Or do both have to be from professors and then I submit the president one extra?

You need to read the LOR requirements/recommendations for each school. I have seen some colleges that permit a LOR from a supervisor, etc. However, if the school website states that they want an Instructor LOR, then you can assume that it needs to be from someone who has taught you in a class, a prof or TA. If in doubt, call/email the school.

About vocab, I use the synonym tool in my word processor to find different, possibly more accurate words to use. This may not be what you’re looking for, but I’m afraid it’s all I’ve got.

I just found out today that UC applications are due Nov 30, so I’ve gone a little into panic mode, trying to figure out how/where to start with this whole process, since there’s like a bagillion pages to read on the uc website. In addition to all the other posts of great advice you have, do you have any advice on how/where to start with this whole process?
