In the admissions process, is it any help to know professors at Yale? Do they have any weight with the committee? Could they help get someone admitted?

nooo… they can give u a recommendation but they can not aid u in the admission process. The admissions officers are the ones who vote on ur acceptance and even if u knew one of them several of them vote soo its not just their opinion
hope it helps

Don’t try to find some corrupt loophole. In my school, 5 people applied SCEA to a certain safety school in Cambridge. One girl personally knew the area admissions rep for that school; he was a longtime family friend. When he came to our school, they had a lengthy personal conversation after the info session. When the decisions came in, all those that applied SCEA except this girl got in; the girl got deferred, then rejected. Given that knowing the area rep would probably represent more clout than knowing a professor, and of course given that Yale operates at an even higher standard of integrity, there is simply no way having such a “connection” would help.

Ok, ok! I was just wondering…

I believe there was a thread about a person whose parents were professors at Yale…she got rejected.

go figure.

Would it still be considered “corrupt” if an applicant took courses (for credit and grade) at the university and a professor made a recommendation to admissions based on this context?
