Extracurriculars:
Non Profit Organization- I started my own Non-Profit, it’s legally registered within the U.S. as a charity and it has approximately 10 branches with more pending as of now. It’s the highlight of my high school performance; I took the practical knowledge given through MUN and put it into the real world. It’s what I plan to use in whatever essays I can. Definitely for the UC one. Oh, the organizations raised somewhere in the thousands, don’t have the finance info on me. And the organization is catered towards investing in preventative health care (vaccines) as well as new medical technology.
MUN- Model United Nations Was a huge deal to me and fell apart in our school, but I used so,e decisive thinking to make sure they wouldn’t take it away from us at the end of sophomore year. Also another thing I will try to use for essays. It is also why you saw a dip in the second semester sophomore year
CNA- I will also be a certified nurse assistant soon, I completed a program associated with that for more clinical experience in the healthcare sector.
Volunteering: I also have over 500 hours in volunteering at the hospital doing tasks such as delivering specimens, equipment etc… as well as discharging patients. I’m chairperson of the shift that I am working on.
Awards:
Boys State: I was picked as one of the nominee’s for boys state at our school and that was a good experience for me and I’ve heard it’s a prestigious nomination.
UCI Global Symposium: A large event at UCI was held in accordance to our end of the year agenda. We all had to submit projects and we would compete against 3 other schools other than our own and try to win an award. My MNC (Multi National Corporation) project won 2nd place there.
MUN Awards: I’ve won quite a few awards going to MUN conferences if it means anything.
Other:
Amgen Biotech Lab: It’s a lab we did with a company that let’s us be certified to work in certain research laboratories that you need the requirement beforehand.
My essays: I wanted to briefly talk about the tone and character that I’m using in my essays. The first is for more high leveled colleges where my stats do not compensate. I plan to use adjectives such as shrewd, sly, conniving, assertive, and ruthless. It’s where I will talk about the foundation of my NPO and the challenges and struggles that a real life organization took to get started and develop to where it is today. Or with MUN it’s the same thing, but in consideration of the policies diplomats would try to enforce and argue for. My CNA experience might also be a topic depending on the essay. I plan to really focus on the reality of the situation rather than a someone died approach or life’s rainbows and butterflies approach or even a mechanic sounding essay. But the aggressive tone will be lessened for my UC essays possibly, not sure yet. I am going to be as real as possible with what’s happened in my high school experience.
** On a side note, all my extracurricular activities are catered towards the different majors. I want to go towards pre-med, I want to go that route with any major regardless. Most of the top schools I’m going to for business if that clarifies it. So certain schools I’m applying for different things depending on what makes the best fit. Also since math was a weak point for me I was wondering if I could do anything to supplement, taking classes at community college etc… My poor performance there was because it was a morning class and I didn’t have much time to focus on the more tedious aspects of the class. If I take a class next year I believe it should be fine or if I get a good grade in Math Studies SL, which is likely can that help?
