On the CommonApp is it all right to be down-to-earth and colloquial (including contractions and stuff) for the “Profile” questions. (The ones about favorite books and stuff.) I know they say that you don’t have to use complete sentences, but I’m not sure if you are allowed to be as colloquial as I was (I didn’t swear or anything LOLz).

I’m pretty sure that’s okay. I used lots of contractions and commonplace abbreviations, such as U of Hawaii and '08. Just as long as it’s not too outlandish, like regional slang.

Thanks mayne!

You’re welcome
Umm, I’m sorry, what’s “mayne”? Lol, good example of what not to use.

I think mayne = man with a gangster accent ;)

Yeah mayne means “man”. I also occasionally use “bruv”, which is the British equivalent (I’m not British, and I do not nor have I ever lived in Britain). And I did not use “mayne” or “bruv” on my Stanford app hahaha. :-)
