Program for syncing files?

I remember reading on here a while ago a good free program that would allow my laptop and desktop to always be up to date with one another but I can’t find it anymore so… any help? Thanks

i use dropbox as a means of syncing important documents between computers… but the free membership only nets you 2 gb of storage

I had a post talking about dropbox but it was deleted by a mod. It’s a really great service, maybe the mods think it’s a scam lol. The only competitor is sugarsync but I can’t see it really having any advantages. Hope this helps.

I’ve tried using Microsofts SyncToy program with my desktop and netbook, but could never really get it set up. I’m not a computer expert though, so you may have better luck with it.

DropBox is a great solution, but it has a few drawbacks. Mainly, that you have to keep all the files you want synced in the DropBox folder, and you can hit the 2 GB limit pretty fast if you are trying to keep “everything” synced.

What I recommend you do is establish a separate folder for all the documents you create for each class, and keep those in the DropBox folder. That way all your current work is synced. At the end of each semester, simply move those folders out of DropBox to another location on your hard drive and start over.
