If you have contact with faculty or administration from dept that you plan to study… asking questions, invited to tour, invited to sit in on class, etc., if they were interested in you would they have any pull with admissions at ivy?
Are you asking for undergrad? Because for undergrad they might have a little, but not much. Professors don’t usually contact admissions on students’ behalf; they’re not that involved in the admissions process. Besides, undergraduate students change their mind about their majors all the time; it’d be silly to spend your social capital campaigning for that amazing psychology admit only for them to change their mind 6 months later and major in political science instead. I think for most Ivy professors that’s not a desirable way to spend their time.
I think if any Ivy professor did want to advocate for a student, it would be a student they had a long-standing relationship with - like one who started assisting them with research in high school or something.
