Programs for Young Adults at Risk - Like Outward Bound Intercept

<p>Can anyone recommend a self-confidence, self-esteem, action-based counseling program like Outward Bound’s Intercept? </p>

<p>The participant would a 22 yo girl/woman who can’t get out of her downward spiral. A couple DUI, flunking out of college, anxiety and depression. She’s now turned “mean,” for lack of a better word, and is really heading the wrong direction. Her HS friends are graduating from college this month. The mom is convinced that being the “failure” among these friends returning home will only make the situation worse. She copes through partying.</p>

<p>Yes, I realize the anxiety and depression may DQ her from any travel-based outdoors program. But, I’m still interested in hearing what’s out there. </p>

I have known several young adults go to Wingate and Second Nature both. It can be useful if this is the route to use an educational consultant who specializes in this area. Finding the right therapist is at least as important as the program in many cases; the educational consultants do this. It must be a very specialized educational consultant for a young adult placement.
