Obviously it’s too late now, but for next year I would like to know some. I’m interested in computers. Not programming, unless it’s for beginners. And I don’t want to get a loan to pay for it. Please and thanks!

Could you be more specific?

“Computers” is extremely vague, especially as programming is one of the more common subjects (fortunately, many beginner programs are offered). Do you mean computer maintenance, computer graphics, computer science research, data or web architecture, etc.?

Also, “And I don’t want to get a loan to pay for it” is vague, too. For some people, a $4,000 would not require a loan, and for others, a $500 program would require a loan. Do you have an estimated maximum cost in mind? (Also, you may want to explore scholarship opportunities now, as you’re planning for next summer.)

The maximum cost would be 1000. I doubt I would even be allowed to spend that. But computers is pretty general. I apologize. I just took a basic computer class and hated most of the typing/excel stuff but when we did an animation program and creating webpages I loved it. I had to help the teacher half the time! But I’m not sure what you would call animations/website design as a program. I was just looking into something along those lines or next yet because I didn’t have time this year. Thank you!

Hm, for web design, I haven’t seen a lot of traditional summer programs for that (also something I’m interested in). But you might want to browse through [Google’s list](http://www.google.com/Top/Kids_and_Teens/Sports_and_Hobbies/Summer_Camps/Computer/), or look into taking classes at a local community college.

Another thing you could do is buy one or two books to teach yourself HTML/CSS/flash/javascript/whatever, and then try to seek out an internship in your area. (I’m trying to do this now, with limited success, because for most agencies in my city, they only accept college students. But NY probably has wayyy more opportunities.)
