Programs @ Rochester

Can someone give me a description the REMS and the GRADE programs at rochester?

cliuless, the Rochester Early Medical Scholars (REMS) program is a combined, non-accelerated eight year B.A./B.S.-M.D. program. If you are admitted into the program as a freshman, the U of R guarantees admission into the medical school. The MCAT is waived. Roughly 800 people apply for ten spots each year, so the program is competitive. The Guaranteed Rochester Accelerated Degree in Education (GRADE) is a combined, accelerated five year program. You graduate after five years with a Master’s degree from the Warner School of Education. Generally speaking, students will major in what they want to teach and then focus on lesson planning techniques, etc. on the Master’s level. Let me know if you have any additional questions about each of these programs.

Rochester’s REMS is like northwestern’s HPME in that if you get into the program, you don’t have to take the MCAT (unless you want to go to another school for med school, then the MCAT is required, obviously)
