Progressive Degree Financial Aid..

So I haven’t posted in a while but I have a question. I am a year ahead of schedule in my major (neuroscience) and next fall I will have one course left to take. My counselor suggested that I look into a Master’s Program and I have found that I can get my MPH (Masters of Public Health) by next May which is my planned graduation date.

My problem is that I rely heavily on financial aid to attend the school I am at (which COA is close to 50000 and will probably exceed that next year). Graduate degrees hardly get any financial aid outside of loans because the Pell and other federal grants go away. Since I would be doing a Progressive Degree (doing this MPH while finishing my BA) would I still be entitled to the same undergrad financial aid package?

Ultimately I am planning on getting my Masters in Physician Assistant Studies but I can’t begin that until the Fall of 2009. I just thought that an MPH would be a good complement to this program if it fit into my schedule and I could still graduate in time without just taking worthless electives. So, is there funding out there for it? Or would it just be better to pick up a minor or something else that is not graduate work?

Thanks Guys!

I would talk to financial aid and verify that if you have not yet officially finished UG work and graduated, can you take grad classes in that time frame and even potentially earn a grad degree and still collect UG financial aid.

Fin aid does not pay for a 2nd UG degree, but if you are completing a double major, as long as you are not awarded one of the degrees you are still eligible for finaid, perhaps it is the same for the grad classes
