Project Runway - new season

I don’t think PR was on Thursday night in my area–first there was a cheerleader show and then there was a repeat of the first episode of this season’s PR; even though the crawl at the bottom of the screen had said the finale would be on the onscreen channel guide from Verizon indicated otherwise and was correct.

I feel as though I am living in a parallel universe. Anyway, I thought Anya would win, and i guess I do not need to look for a rerun of the finale now. But what time was the finale on? Was it one Friday night instead?

“Project Runway All-Stars” the list of cast members according to Wikipedia: Austin Scarlett (Season 1), Kara Janx (Season 2), Elisa Jimenez (Season 4), Rami Kashou (Season 4), Sweet P (Season 4), Jerell Scott (Season 5), Kenley Collins (Season 5), Gordana Gehlhausen (Season 6), Anthony Williams (Season 7), Mila Hermanovski (Season 7), April Johnston (Season 8), Michael Costello (Season 8), and Mondo Guerra (Season 8).

What? No season 3 participants? I wonder why. I like Santino Rice too.

Anya has a niche market in resort wear, but I don’t think she’ll have much success. I loved her fabrics, but not her collection. I loved the fabric that Vicktor designed using his photos. Beautiful.

Even after the finale no one knocked my socks off. Too bad. I’ll keep watching.

No question - in all other seasons the “surprise” during the finale is “do an 11th look” or “modify a look you have.” (Didn’t most seasons also have a 12 look finale, not 10? I remember hearing about the "13th look.) It hasn’t been, “Oh, let us help you - here’s some more money and you don’t have to make any more outfits!”

In my neck of the woods, it was on Thursday at 9, as usual.

I think one of the reasons past contestants were higher quality is that a good many already HAD jobs in the fashion industry and were looking to start their own company.
Uli was already a designer, Jillian worked for Ralph Lauren, Michael is (and was) a teacher in fashion design, Chris March had a costume business. I know there were others also.
Besides Bert (who was getting back into the business) did anyone really work sucessfully in the fashion industry prior to the show?

I do hope the show quality improves next season. It really has transformed how I look at fashion. Had never seen clothes as an art form before and it has been wonderfully fun to explore that whole dimension by watching the show. This season really disappointed.

I was disappointed that Anya won (even though it seemed from the start that she was going to be the one to beat. I agree with the others that she is a bit of a one trick pony and really did not stretch herself as a designer (especially considering her collection was not as extensive as others). However, she does great styling and has picked out some great prints.

To me her win seems to send a message that you can have “pretty” clothes that lack craftsmanship. I would be concerned with her clothes falling apart.

Thanks to Google, I found this link regarding the All Star Show. Interesting that there is no Heidi, Nina or Michael!

“I would be concerned with her clothes falling apart.”

Why? She won’t be manufacturing them. It won’t be haute coutere. She’ll come up with the pattern, the design, the fabric choice, and others will make it.

It’s Project Runway, not Project Seamstress. (Michael Kors probably hasn’t sewn anything in 25 years.)

I think all the stuff about her not being able to sew was total claptrap. I’ve been sewing for years - no way could I make clothes that fit and move like some of hers.

Interesting all the different opinions. For me, Anya was a deserving winner. If Victor had won, that would have been ok as well - though I did not like his black outfits. I thought most of Josh’s stuff was gaudy, tasteless and just atrocious. I think I would have been stopped watching it if he had won. (though I said the same about granny pants winning last year).

Have to admit, I did not fall in love with any of them this season. Not a Mondo or Seth Aaron in sight. Still really enjoy the show though.

Warning to all that come after me. Don’t read if you haven’t seen the last episode.

I haven’t seen finale yet! Crap! Why did I read this thread?
