This is where I went to high school- however I didn’t go to prom although I did attend other dances.
Sounds like a mess- plus it doesn’t test for other drugs.

But I will say- one reason why I moved to the city when I had kids instead of raising them in the suburbs, was because " partying" was the most popular EC at LWHS

At my kid’s high school they often have a breathalyzer at dances. I am not sure if everyone is tested, although I know my son was tested a couple of times.

High schools don’t seem to have enough safety officers to do the checking- my D2 high school had a big problem when they were searching everyone, but only had one entrance open- the kids got really tired of standing in line & became unruly & the officers then made it worse by roping a section off & not allowing anyone to leave.

I think unless they plan to have everyone through quickly, it will be a mess.

My kid’s HS does not test everyone … but everyone has to agree to be tested if asked to be allowed to attend … I have no idea how many kids they actually test or how they decide whom to test.

At my old school district, the police were on hand to arrest them for intox by a minor. It truly was a deterrent, though it also meant that a lot of kids just didn’t go to prom. In my current school district, the kids are not tested, but most of the drinking occurs after the prom in hotels and after parties.

My sons’ high school did this - chaperones (teachers) were sent with lots of breathalyzers and kids were on warning that they could be tested entering the event or at any point. As a result the prom itself was a dry event and over at a pretty early hour. Then the kids headed out to a club afterwards and all bets were off.
