prom etiquette

Tanya, you have made my day. Do they still sleep under the boardwalk and then watch the sun rise? (Are there still raised boardwalks for them to sleep under?)

I suspect this generation would not do such lowly things…they probably all have reservations at a nice hotel or motor inn.

I miss my teenage summers in Lavallette.

The beach hotel thing gets VERY wild and out of control. One mom I know was torn as to whether to allow it but finally did- she got a phone call in the middle of the night from her kid who was leaving because things were getting out of hand - the group got busted big time later on that same night - he was lucky he left when he did.

As for who pays, hmm… in our case, that would be US and US! As I recall there was some discussion of it, but in the end, S paid for tickets and limo… D split the price and still did the hair and dress routine! But seriously, it generally depends on the relationship of the kids - if they are a couple versus if this is a date versus it’s just friends.

In our neck of the woods many boys did the neutral vest and tie thing, rather than a color , but one did see both. S asked ahead about the dress anyway, in order to get a corsage that would coordinate - most every girl wore wrist ones. The girls in our area bought the boys boutoneirres. Order ahead at the florist.

my little sisters prom was a few weeks ago, and she had a great time.

a boy on her bowling team asked her to go, as friends, on her myspace. she accepted, on his my space. all arrangements were done via myspace, lol. he paid for her tickets, she tried to pay him back, he refused. so in return, she paid for his pictures. he paid for the flowers and he drove them to prom. they stayed till 5 am and had a great time. she said she didn’t see him from around 2:30-4:30, as they were off doing seperate things with their own groups of friends.

After my s’s prom, a group of them went to see the Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Someone took care of ordering all the tickets ahead of time, so they were able to go right on in (it was the last showing of the night). Afterward they all went back to the girl’s house, where anyone who wanted could stay the rest of the night. The parents were there and had a wonderful food buffet set up in the kitchen. These teens eat like horses!

I just heard my S’s crowd is going downtown in a shared limo to have themselves photographed on the steps of the Albright Knox Museum. Who dreams this stuff up?

they all came to my housel, we had about 20…it was fun!!!
I am going to miss them all next year

Ds prom included dinner, she asked a boy from another school, she bought the tickets, etc…

And she had her dress bought last Christmas!!
